The course includes theoretical lectures on geomatics and the use of GIS . Subsequently it provided a series of practical exercises using the ArcGIS software in order to view and work with geographic data . Most of the examples covered in the course are based on specific cases in the environmental field .The course provides a strong interactive component between teacher and students .

Learning is tested with an written exam and the presentation by the student of a series of maps developed independently and delivered the day of the exam . The score is out of thirty, 20 points maximum for the written test and 10 points maximum for the maps elaborated by the student .Required maps , referring to an area identified during the last lessons of teaching , are as follows :
- framework map of the study area
- CTR map
- soil use map
- elevation map
- slope map
- geological Map
- aspect map
- Model suitability for wildlife species present in the study area
The maps must be delivered the day of the oral exam on paper or file format ( TIFF or JPG ) via USB stick
